Parent Education

parents and childThe Plano ISD Parent Education Program, under the supervision of the guidance and counseling department, is designed to provide support, resources and parenting skills for all parents in the community.

The program offers parenting classes in schools and other locations throughout the community, targeting all levels of development. Special focus series are also offered in areas such as parenting children with attention deficits, strong-willed temperaments and more. Additional services include a resource library with books, videos and periodicals on parenting and child development, as well as materials for children who are coping with family life issues. Offerings include developmental toy lending, parent coaching, referral services and seminars for divorcing parents. The Plano ISD Parent Education Program and many other family services are available to all Plano ISD families. Family Resource Library

The Plano ISD Parent Education Program Family Resource Library is available to the entire community. It provides books, video and audio cassettes and periodicals with the latest information about parenting and child development. The library also offers a unique collection of children’s materials relating to life issues such as making friends, responsibility, peer pressure, expressing feelings and emotions and adjusting to change and loss. Developmental toys and manipulatives are also available for check out.

The library is located at 1300 19th Street and is open year-round with the exception of July and school holidays. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. For further information, call (469) 752-2286.
