Publicity
Requests
Plano ISD employees, PTAs and student organizations
may submit news and photos to the Plano ISD Communications
Department for consideration in district publications
and to provide to local news media sources.
Press Release For News Media
Area newspapers request that information
be submitted by schools and departments to be compatible
with their technology and guidelines. The newspaper
staffs have said that the guidelines will
help them better serve their readers and all of those
who are part of Plano ISD.
Also, these guidelines will enable the newspapers to
handle the increased amount of education news and ensure
that much of the news is published in a timely manner.
Decisions regarding publication of items are made by
the various news media reporters/editors.
The following guidelines will also expedite the process implemented
by the Plano ISD Communications Department to disseminate
the news to the various news media sources.

Tips
for Taking Photos
- Camera
Setting - Set digital cameras to "high
quality" or "fine" for best reproduction in
print newsletters.
- Taking
Photos
- Concentrate
as closely as possible on
faces/action.
- Hold
the camera steady for clearest results and
less chance for blurring.
- If using a digital
camera with a preview feature,
preview your photos on the spot to
ensure that correct angles are being achieved
and that light sources
are sufficient.
- Use a flash
when appropriate.
- Relax! The more
at ease you are, the better your results
with students and staff. (Remind students
to "ignore" the camera when taking action
photos to avoid "posed" results.)
- E-mailing
Digital Photos - E-mail your images
as individual attachments, not
embedded in a Word or PowerPoint document,
to digest@pisd.edu
- Photo
Captions - In the body of your e-mail, include
the photo names with corresponding names and
titles of photo subjects (pictured left to
right) and information
to be emphasized in the published photo caption.
